About the Journal
Culture: An Undergraduate Humanities Journal is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, student-run journal founded by the Humanities Student Association at York University. Established in 2017, Culture publishes academic and creative works and is dedicated to platforming emerging student voices, fostering unique perspectives, and encouraging truthful self-expression.
Culture exists beyond academia; it is a lived and shared experience, varied and intangible, that is evolving in every succeeding moment. This journal wishes to deconstruct ideas of cultural form, expression, and understanding within Humanities scholarship to further develop cultural analysis.
Culture welcomes undergraduate works in any genre and written form, including academic essays, poetry, short stories, and personal reflections. All academic disciplines and backgrounds are encouraged to submit.
Culture is an Open Access journal. All material is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise stated.
The journal is issued by York University's Department of Humanities through the Humanities Student Association. It is hosted by York Digital Journals (YDJ) at York University Libraries (YUL).
